The new generation, unlike the previous generation, refuses to be a walking advertisement for the big brands. They are allergic to showing logos covering their entire fashion style. Or at least it should have its dedicated place. That is, not in front of the t-shirt and definitely not covering the entire front face of the purse. This new “no-logo” movement forced brands to adjust their designs addressing the latest consumer concerns.

The new minimalist clothes relentlessly reject the gender in showcasing the body as a structure to design clothes. The silhouettes are not longer based on male and female gender; rather it was based on idea, philosophy, and concept behind the design. In a way it thrashed the concept of sexiness and female objectification. The trailblazers of the minimalism movement were the Japanese designers who replaced the glitz and glamorous style of western dresses with simplistic substitutes.
For example, Rei Kawakubo’s Body Meets Dress-Dress Meets Body collection in spring and summer 1997 for Comme des Garçons was a symbolic expression of breaking extreme feministic stereotypes in fashion. In this collection, Kawakubo experimented by placing pads on the abdomen, the hips, and the back as well as the shoulder region.
The Body Meets Dress, Dress Meets Body collection completely changed the way silhouettes were designed. Kawakubo was famous for her desire to push the boundaries of female designs and challenge modern perceptions of femininity, often sexualized in subtle ways.
