Custom Workwear Hats: A Three-Piece Crew Kit for Every Season
Custom workwear hats for… a crew kit that runs all year: a Richardson stretch-mesh trucker, a twill-patch trucker and a knit beanie. No minimum. Get a mockup.
Three pieces sit in this group, and at first they don't look like a set: a Richardson trucker with a stretch-mesh back, a Big Accessories trucker with a twill patch already sewn on the front, and an Atlantis knit beanie. Put them side by side, though, and you've got custom workwear hats for the whole year. Two caps for the long hot months, one beanie for cold mornings, and the same logo on all three.
So the job on this page isn't picking from a wall of caps. It's getting one logo to look right on three very different fronts.
Custom workwear hats: what changes from front to front?
The logo is the same. The surface it lands on isn't. Here's how the three compare, straight from the product listings:
| Piece | Front | Crown and fit | Where your logo goes | Colors |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Richardson 112PL | 60/40 cotton/polyester twill | Structured, six-panel, mid profile; adjustable R-Flex snapback | Stitched on the front panels | 12 |
| Big Accessories BA682 | Cotton twill patch, 4 1/2" W x 5" H, on a polyester mesh cap | Unstructured, six-panel; snapback, one size | Stitched inside the twill patch | 5 |
| Atlantis Headwear HOLLY | 60/40 Polylana polyester/acrylic knit, 8 1/2" | Uncuffed beanie, one size | Front center, clear of the top seams | 9 |
People ask us if one logo file works on all three. It does, with one condition: the stitch file isn't one-size-fits-all. Every logo gets digitized first (turned into a stitch file the machine follows), and the density (how tight the stitches pack) and underlay (the base stitches underneath) get set for each fabric. A cap front is digitized from the center out, so the stitches stay even across the curve. The knit gets its own setup.
Same art. Three tuned files.
Workwear trucker hats: stiff twill front or patch front?
Both caps are six-panel truckers, and both close with a snapback (an adjustable snap strap at the back). After that they go different ways.
Richardson 112PL, the clean structured front
The Richardson 112PL 112+ R-Flex Trucker Hat has a structured crown (stiff front panels that hold their shape) in 60/40 cotton/polyester twill, a mid profile and a pre-curved bill. The back is 95/5 polyester/spandex stretch mesh, and there's a comfort stretch sweatband inside. It's listed as Adjustable with an R-Flex snapback closure, and the size chart runs 6 7/8 to 7 3/4. Crown height, bill to button, is about 6 1/2 inches.
Here's the thing: a firm twill front is the easiest spot in this whole group to stitch a logo. It sits still under the needle. If your crew gets only one piece, this is the one we'd stitch first. For embroidered workwear hats, that's why most crews start their logo here.
Twelve colors, from plain Black and Navy to Loden Green/Black and Brown/Khaki.
Shop note: on Heather Grey/Black and Heather Grey/White, the speckled front tints thread a little. Go a full shade darker or lighter on the thread than the color you had in mind.
Big Accessories BA682: for workwear hats with patches, the patch is built in
The Big Accessories BA682 Homestead Trucker Cap comes with a cotton twill patch already on the front, with merrowed edges (the thick wrapped stitch around the border). The cap is 100% polyester mesh, the bill and top button are 100% cotton ripstop, and the semi-curved bill has a contrasting twill underbill. It's unstructured, so the crown is soft. One size, snapback.
Your logo gets embroidered inside that patch. That's the appeal, really: it reads as a patch hat, and there's no separate patch to make first.
The catch? The patch is 4 1/2" wide by 5" tall, and the design has to stay inside its edges with some plain twill left around it. A long, wide logo may need a stacked version. Rather have a sew-on patch in leather or woven instead of stitching on the twill? Ask us. A compact one may work where it fits a stable area, approved on the real cap before production.
Five colors: Black/Black, Dark Charcoal/Dark Charcoal, Khaki/Khaki, Old Gold/Black and Slate Blue/Slate Blue.
Where does a beanie fit in a crew kit?
Houston winters are short. But a cold front still rolls in, and a 6 a.m. start on an open site in January is cold. That's the gap the Atlantis Headwear HOLLY Sustainable Beanie fills.
It's a 60/40 Polylana polyester/acrylic knit, 8 1/2 inches, and it contains 60% recycled polyester. One size. A QR code label inside gives product traceability. No cuff, so the logo goes on the knit itself, front center and clear of the top seams.
Knit moves, well, more than twill does anyway. Fine detail and small lettering may need simplifying, because tiny words that read fine on the 112PL can sink into a knit. Our advice is to send the beanie a simpler cut of the logo: just the icon, or the name in bigger letters. Small text works better in satin stitch (narrow, smooth stitches) than in fill.
Nine colors, including Royal, Burgundy Melange, Light Grey and Orange. A bright beanie is a color choice, though, not safety gear. If your site calls for high-visibility headwear, look at our hi-vis caps for road and yard crews and confirm what your site requires before you order.
Ordering work-grade caps with logo for a small crew
You can mix all three in one order, and any color of each. There's no minimum, so one beanie for the new guy is fine. Once your logo is digitized, the file is saved, which makes it easy to reorder when new hires start.
Think of it like your company name on a truck door and on a clipboard. Same name. Different size for each.
Send a vector file if you have one (a logo file that scales clean, like AI, EPS, PDF or SVG). Every file we get is handled under our Artwork Acceptance Policy, and every order follows our Spoilage Policy. Proofs take 2–3 working days. That's a mockup, a picture of your logo on each piece. Once you sign off, a small batch takes 7–10 working days to make. Outfitting a big crew all at once? That takes longer, so check the date with us first.
What moves the price: logo size, stitch count (how many stitches the design takes), how many spots you decorate, which pieces you pick and how many you order. More on how we stitch is on our custom embroidery services page.
Tell us which pieces you want and how many of each, and send the logo with it through our quote request. You'll see all three on the mockup before a needle moves.
Need more than three to choose from?
This group is a short list on purpose. For the full range of crew caps, go to our work hats collection. More mesh-back styles sit in custom trucker hats, and colder-weather knits are in work beanies. Shirts, jackets and the rest of the uniform are under custom workwear.
Last tip: when you send the logo, tell us which piece matters most to you. We build the main file for that front first, then adapt it for the other two.
